HBOT Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy principle is to provide higher levels of oxygen (97% compared to 21% in natural air) by increasing pressure.
HBOT helped patients who have been diagnosed with numerous conditions. Outside of the NHS or FDA-approved uses for HBOT therapy, there are over a 100 recognized indications for which hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been shown to be effective according to published medical studies. Please, refer to the Research Section below.
Our chamber can operate up to 2 ATA (2 Bar) pressure.
MWS - HBOT Hyperbaric Oxygen effects
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) - a procedure that involves administering air or pure oxygen to a patient, under conditions of high pressure. This treatment uses a specialised chamber.
High pressure eliminates physiological barriers for oxygen to penetrate cells and tissue. At 2 atmospheres pressure, oxygen dissolves in plasma at a concentration high enough to enhance the activation and production of stem cells in the human body. Additionally, it causes cells to receive increased doses of oxygen, which significantly supports the treatment of many conditions.
HBOT creates conditions in which oxygen has the ability to penetrate even non-blood supplied areas of the body. Interestingly, an increase in oxygen levels can also be observed in the blood, lymph or cerebrospinal fluid which has a multitude of health benefits.
A patient who is in a HBOT chamber is surrounded by purified filtered air and alternates between inhaling pure oxygen or air from a mask. Oxygen is supplied using a special mask and exhaled air is expelled from the chamber.
Before treatment, the patient should ensure that they are fully prepared:
1. Dress in comfortable, preferably 100% cotton clothing
2. Remove any jewellery (risk of oxidisation and causing skin allergies)
3. Remove makeup and other substances (it is also recommended not to use perfume, hairspray or gel)
4. Don't use fresh nail varnish before the treatment
5. Be aware of pressure equalisation techniques
After entering the hyperbaric chamber, the pressure inside is gradually increased until the required value is reached and then maintained at a constant level. The procedure lasts from 60 to 130 minutes (including compression and decompression).
The NHS and FDS approve and recommend hyperbaric oxygen chambers as a method to treat diseases some of which we have listed below:
Decompression sickness, gas embolism (the bends), carbon monoxide poisoning, gas gangrene, crash injury, compromised skin grafts and flaps, thermal burns, chronic refractory osteomyelitis (bone infection), radiation tissue damage, arteriole insufficiency (diabetic foot, ulcers, non-healing), necrotizing soft-tissue infections, acute traumatic peripheral ischemia (injury disrupts blood flow to a limb), idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss, dysbaric osteonecrosis and avascular necrosis (bone saturated with inert gas, diving condition)
Here are over a 100 recognised indications for which hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been shown to be effective according to published medical studies (see Research Papers section)
NEUROPATHY - predominant neuropathy damage occurs due to the inability to get oxygen to our brain and nervous system. HBOT improves oxygen transport and absorption by supplying ample amount of oxygen which provides the necessary fuel for recovery and healing.
Diabetes (blood sugar glucose levels are too high)
Disc Herniation (slipped or ruptured disc)
Peripheral Neuropathy (peripheral nerves, those outside the brain and spinal cord are damaged)
Fibromyalgia (widespread pain and tenderness in muscles and soft tissues)
NEUROLOGICAL CONDITIONS - helps the brain to perform better and enhance recovery by increased oxygen availability and nutrient flow.
Post Stroke Recovery
Dementia/Alzheimer’s (decline in mental capabilities)
Concussion such as TBI (traumatic brain injury)
Autism
Parkinson’s (progressive neurological condition that primarily affects movement)
FASTER RECOVERY AND HEALING - HBOT improves surgical, small wounds and tissue damage, by improved transport and stem cell activation.
Wound healing
Regeneration of tissues
Anti-ageing
Post surgical recovery
Cystitis (inflammation of the bladder)
Abscess (painful collection of pus, usually caused by a bacterial infection)
Long Covid
IMMUNE SYSTEM - Anaerobic bacteria (pathogens) that inhabit or invade our body don't tolerate oxygen. Majority of healthy bacteria (microbiome) need oxygen to live (aerobic bacteria). HBOT helps to balance microbiomes by controlling pathogens, therefore immune system can focus on other sources of infections.
HBOT stabilise microbiomes
Balancing immune system
AUTOIMMUNITY - HBOT mitigates chronic inflammation and improves the body's immune system and promotes tissue repair and healing.
Inflammatory Arthritis (inflammation in and around the joints)
Crohn’s Disease (chronic inflammatory bowel disease)
Ulcerative Colitis (chronic inflammatory bowel disease)
Multiple Sclerosis (central nervous system)
ANGIOGENESIS - The formation of new blood vessels, i.e. vascular system comprising arteries and veins, which is crucial for wound healing and tissue repair. HBOT stimulates the production of hypoxia-inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1α), a protein that promotes angiogenesis.
Erectile dysfunction (inability to achieve or maintain an erection during sexual intercourse if caused by local vascular insufficiency or damage)
Wound healing
Skin, muscle, nervous tissue repair and regeneration
Can a single treatment help in any way? No.
To cure various diseases, we recommend at least 5 to even 60 treatments required (as in the case of curing bone inflammation or reversing the aging processes and rejuvenating the body by number of years). For many treatments, 1-2 day breaks are required, so that the patient can rest from the treatments and have time for mental and physical regeneration.
The absolute minimum amount of treatments for the body to start producing stem cells intensively, is at least 3 treatments in a week.
lung conditions, obstructive lung disease, pulmonary blebs or bullae
Upper Respiratory or Sinus Infections
Recent Ear or Thoracic Surgery Ear Trauma
Pregnancy
Claustrophobia
Safety is paramount principle for MWS. Our chamber is operated by qualified and well experienced operators with hundreds of session in many types of HBOT chambers. Starting with mono place chamber to quadruple place chamber to octet hospital grade chamber. MWS HBOT Hyperbaric Chamber provide pure oxygen on demand basis which was selected to comply with safety requirements.
Our HBOT Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber is fitted with following safety features to enable constant monitoring and best treatment results:
Sensors: Oxygen, Humidity, Temperature, Pressure.
Environment control: cooling control system, automatic pressure control system, standby manual pressure control system, automatic pressure relief system, internal lights and UV lights. Digital pressure control and manual pressure gauging.
Hyperbaric Oxygen is used by UK NHS for conditions as listed in the link below, however due to current doctrine HBOT is rarely mentioned or prescribed to the patients.
